I did this piece months ago as my final/personal project in a color pencil workshop with Anne Flood. I used a photo reference.
I think there was a reason for not uploading this before. I can't remember what it is (or was) so... here we go. o.O
I think we ran out of time on the background. That's my excuse anyway. =3
EDIT: Sorry about the gigantic-ness. You don't have to full view.
you did such a great job on the feathers on here.
From experience = feathers are a pain to draw but gorgeous after coloring.

If you meet the Buddha, kill the Buddha. If you meet the patriarchs, kill the patriarchs. Free of all, bound by nothing. You live your life simply as it is. That is having nothing. That is muichimotsu -Genjou Sanzo
I really appreciate your comments. They're really encouraging, and they provide good feedback.
As for the feathers... they are a pain. I've never done a study of them, so I can't draw feathers in detail. I think the ones on this bird look very much like matted fur. But since you brought feathers to my attention, I might try something in the next picture that involves detailed wings. Or... something. Nyaa!
lol I caught that right when I clicked submit. I didn't wanna resend, lol.
Dont worry about the commenting, i like to critique.
I'd try to help but I'm more of an anime artist, so my wings are like solid blocks lol [link] like that. Fatty fat wings lol
Ive done some work off a picture of a bird with pen. That's pretty cool, you should try it.
Mine are too large to post on DA though.
So give it a try, feathers are really worth the time and effort

If I could show you, I'd really encourage you to do it. Since you have so much careful detail as shown in this piece. I think you'd do very well

And I'll make a point of doing something birdy-like in the next week.
But couldn't you shrink the pen drawings for DA?
Thanks again! xD
